About the role

Compliance is a key team that ensures Revolut’s products and processes meet the regulatory requirements and translate this into the best customer outcomes. They’ve got an outstanding ability to find solutions and carry out testing in a purely digital environment. Those data-driven experts know that better people and machines are the most effective way of managing conduct risk.

We’re looking for an experienced Data Protection Officer (DPO) who can help us in setting, delivering, and embedding Revolut data protection and privacy strategy for our new Western European Headquarters based in France. Someone who’s excited to work in a fast-paced environment, advancing the adoption of our Group policy, procedures, risk, and control frameworks in the region.

What you'll be doing

  • Acting as DPO for the Western European Headquarters based in France
  • Advising the business on data protection requirements and related controls in the European Economic Area
  • Monitoring compliance with data protection requirements across the region
  • Developing and implementing a scalable data protection compliance program in Western Europe
  • Aligning the program with group standards and regulatory expectations in close partnership with the Group DPO
  • Overseeing 1LoD's management of data protection and privacy risks and controls in Western Europe
  • Monitoring changes in regulatory obligations and identifying necessary controls to mitigate associated risks
  • Creating and delivering local training to enhance data protection and privacy awareness in the region
  • Reporting to senior management and the Group DPO on the regional implementation of the global data protection program
  • Highlighting compliance risks in Western Europe
  • Monitoring how data subject rights requests are handled by the global DPO support team and assisting with local responses
  • Collaborating with the Group's DPO on wider data protection initiatives
  • Representing the Western European Headquarters in front of key internal and external stakeholders
  • Managing interactions with the CNIL on data protection and privacy compliance matters

What you'll need

  • 6+ years of experience as a Data Protection Officer in France
  • Direct engagement with the CNIL and other European data protection regulators
  • Deep knowledge of the French data protection landscape, market practices, and regulator expectations
  • Proven expertise in the French Data Protection Act (Loi Informatique et Libertés) and the EU GDPR
  • Familiarity with relevant regional data protection laws, regulations, and guidance
  • A genuine interest in expanding knowledge in areas such as data and AI governance
  • A solid understanding of the interplay between compliance risk and business risk
  • A solution-oriented mindset that facilitates solving complex privacy and data protection problems
  • Proven ability to communicate effectively and manage diverse stakeholders
  • Demonstrated sound judgement and analytical skills
  • The ability to provide clear, concise, and timely advice when dealing with ambiguity
  • Fluency in French and English

Nice to have

  • Background in large banks or high-growth fintech companies
  • Track record in leading and managing teams
  • Proven ability to work in a complex international environment
  • Relevant data protection certifications (e.g., IAPP CIPP/E, CDPO/FR or their equivalent)
