Who you are:
We are seeking a highly experienced Non-QM and Non-Conforming underwriting expert who is ready to transition into a mortgage technology and pricing engine environment. This role centers on converting complex underwriting guidelines into structured logic and validating pricing/eligibility outputs. The ideal candidate has deep underwriting and credit knowledge, strong communication skills, and an aptitude for learning technology.
Does this sound like you? If so, keep reading and apply today!

What you’ll do:

  • Serve as the subject-matter expert for investor guidelines (Non-QM, Conforming, Jumbo) and program eligibility.
  • Analyze, interpret, and translate complex investor guidelines including those for bank statements, DSCR, P&L, 1099s, and asset depletion into clear, structured logic for the pricing and eligibility engine.
  • Update, maintain, and validate rules within the pricing engine to ensure all pricing (LLPAs, Spec Payups) and eligibility outputs are accurate and consistent with investor requirements.
  • Proactively recommend improvements to guideline logic and system behavior to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
  • Monitor, review, and interpret all investor communications (e.g., daily emails, notifications) for guideline, rate sheet (LLPA), and product changes.
  • Determine the pricing and eligibility impact of changes and promptly implement them within the system (Polly), including adding new products and adjusting payups, often under same-day deadlines.
  • Conduct systematic validation and testing of pricing and eligibility engine outputs.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve escalated customer support tickets, which may involve full audits of existing investor configurations for content accuracy in eligibility and pricing.

What you have:

  • 7+ years of recent mortgage industry experience, with the last 5+ years focused on Non-QM, Non-Conforming, and Jumbo underwriting.
  • Deep, practical expertise in investor guidelines for FNMA, FHLMC, and Non-QM programs, with the ability to accurately interpret and apply them.
  • Specialized experience underwriting complex income, including bank statements, DSCR, 1099s, tax returns, and asset depletion.
  • Technically adept and eager to transition into tech, with a desire to master rule engines, pricing models, workflow systems, and new platforms quickly. Savvy with tools like Excel.
  • Analytical problem-solver with the ability to anticipate edge cases, think like both an underwriter and a systems analyst, and maintain a high level of detail and accuracy.
  • Exceptional customer-centric communication skills, combining strong writing and verbal ability with empathy, diplomacy, and poise under pressure to resolve issues and explain technical concepts clearly.
