About us

At GoCardless we believe bank payments are the best way to pay and get paid. We also believe that bank account data is a powerful tool to make better, faster decisions. We’re making it easy to use both- for businesses everywhere.

GoCardless is used for domestic and international payments by 75,000+ organisations and counting, processing more than $30 billion across 30 countries. We’re an award-winning London based fintech, with additional offices in Riga, Paris and Melbourne.

The role

You will join GoCardless as a middle/senior level test engineer to ensure that our Bank Debit Rails product works flawlessly and helps moving millions of pounds and euros between merchants and their clients each month without hiccup. You will be responsible for building an automation framework to deal with mundane checks allowing you to spend time tinkering with more complex edge cases. You will be a part of a team consisting of friendly, open and responsive professionals located in Riga and London.

You will be using:

  • JIRA for bug and task tracking
  • Google Suite for document management
  • Sentry, Kibana, and Grafana for error monitoring
  • Postman for API, a DB client for PostgreSQL
  • Macbook running latest MacOS as your “daily driver”
  • Python or Ruby together with test frameworks of your choice.

You’re not expected to have expertise in all these technologies. Members of our team have picked up the tools once they’ve started working with the team. If you’re unsure, please apply.

What excites you

  • You can deal with ambiguous requirements and tribal knowledge at times
  • You enjoy building automated checks, and you know what, when, and why to automate
  • You enjoy doing deep testing and finding complicated edge cases
  • You value your opinion heard, and you embody the idea of quality being a team effort.

What excites us

  • You are familiar with test automation using Python or Ruby - the product is mostly API
  • You are proactive and eager to contribute to the overall testing culture in GoCardless
  • You can structure your work, split larger problems in smaller ones, and you enjoy telling your testing story
  • You have at least 3 years of experience as a test/QA engineer
  • You have experience with financial IT systems
  • You are fluent in English.

We don’t expect you to meet every requirement. If you’re excited by this role, we encourage you to apply.
