The Department: Compliance

Compliance at Gemini is a team dedicated to managing the next generation of financial crime in a complex and evolving regulatory environment. We are a diverse group of technology, legal, and operational professionals who develop new approaches to solving classic problems using cutting edge tools and processes.

The Role: Senior Associate, Compliance

We are looking for a highly motivated and detail-oriented Compliance Senior Associate to join our compliance team in Singapore. This role involves covering regulatory advisory, policy maintenance, regulatory reporting (PSN04 - Submissions of Regulatory Returns), and ensuring compliance with PSN01, PSN02 and PSN03 requirements. The successful candidate will work closely with various departments to ensure the company's compliance with local regulations and international best practices.

Responsibilities:

  • Regulatory Advisory (across APAC with SG focus)
    • Provide expert advice on regulatory requirements and changes, including PSN02 and PSN04 and other licensing conditional requirements.
    • Liaise with regulatory bodies and ensure timely communication and implementation of new regulations.
    • Interpret and communicate regulatory updates to internal stakeholders, product teams, data and technology teams, ensuring they understand and comply with the requirements, especially is record keeping and accurate data extraction obligations.
  • Policy Maintenance
    • Develop, review, and update compliance policies and procedures to align with regulatory changes and best practices.
    • Ensure policies are effectively communicated and implemented across the organization.
    • Monitor, Test and assess the effectiveness of policies and procedures, recommending improvements as necessary.
  • Regulatory Reporting (PSN04 - Submissions of Regulatory Returns)
    • Prepare and submit accurate and timely regulatory returns as required by PSN04.
    • Maintain records of all submissions and ensure documentation is readily available for audits.
    • Collaborate with relevant departments to gather necessary data for regulatory reporting.
  • PSN02 Compliance (including the relevant MAS issued guidelines)
    • Ensure adherence to PSN02 requirements for the prevention of money laundering and countering the financing of terrorism.
    • Conduct regular reviews and assessments of AML/CFT controls to ensure compliance.
    • Report suspicious activities and transactions to the appropriate regulatory bodies.
  • Risk Management
    • Identify, assess, and mitigate compliance risks related to regulatory requirements.
    • Develop and implement risk mitigation strategies to address identified vulnerabilities.
    • Conduct regular enterprise-wide risk assessments, updates and reviews of internal controls and follow-up on recommended actions for risk mitigating measures.
  • Training and Awareness
    • Develop and deliver compliance training programs for employees to enhance their understanding and awareness of regulatory requirements.
    • Ensure ongoing education and training for staff on compliance policies, procedures, and regulations.
  • Internal Controls and Audits
    • Conduct internal audits and reviews of compliance controls to ensure effectiveness.
    • Collaborate with internal and external auditors during compliance assessments.
    • Implement corrective actions for any identified deficiencies or non-compliance issues.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Law, Business Administration, or a related field. Advanced degrees or certifications (e.g., CAMS, ICA) are a plus.
  • At least 3-5 years of experience in compliance, preferably within the financial services sector.
  • In-depth knowledge of Singapore’s regulatory requirements, including PSN02 and PSN04.
  • Proven track record of managing compliance programs and interacting with regulatory authorities.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

  • Regulatory Knowledge: Up-to-date understanding of regulatory requirements and their practical application.

  • Risk Assessment: Capability to identify, assess, and mitigate compliance risks effectively.
  • Communication: Strong ability to communicate complex regulatory requirements clearly and effectively.
