About the Company

Gemini is a global crypto and Web3 platform founded by Tyler Winklevoss and Cameron Winklevoss in 2014. Gemini offers a wide range of crypto products and services for individuals and institutions in over 70 countries.

Crypto is about giving you greater choice, independence, and opportunity. We are here to help you on your journey. We build crypto products that are simple, elegant, and secure. Whether you are an individual or an institution, we help you buy, sell, and store your bitcoin and cryptocurrency.

At Gemini, our mission is to unlock the next era of financial, creative, and personal freedom.

In the United States, we have a flexible hybrid work policy for employees who live within 30 miles of our office headquartered in New York City and our office in Seattle. Employees within the New York and Seattle metropolitan areas are expected to work from the designated office twice a week, unless there is a job-specific requirement to be in the office every workday. Employees outside of these areas are considered part of our remote-first workforce. We believe our hybrid approach for those near our NYC and Seattle offices increases productivity through more in-person collaboration where possible.

The Department: Nifty Gateway

Nifty Gateway Studio brings together artists and their communities through NFTs. We work with today’s leading creative minds to push the boundaries of human experiences through the development of extraordinary creative experiences built on-chain. Nifty Gateway was founded by Duncan and Griffin Cock Foster in 2018, and acquired by Gemini in 2019, with the belief that crypto networks and the blockchain have the power to fundamentally change the art world by creating greater choice, independence, and opportunity for artists, creators, and collectors.

The Role: Senior Software Engineer (Fullstack)

As we are building out Nifty's engineering team, we're looking for you to work wherever you can contribute the most on the Nifty Gateway codebase. You’ll get the opportunity to build out the frontier of an emerging field and build tools for some of the pieces that go on to be enormously popular in the digital collectible space! This is a very hands-on role where you'll work with smart, creative people to build the foundation of Nifty Gateway! An ideal candidate will have a strong aptitude for identifying opportunities to
improve user experience, robust experience translating design frameworks into code to improve user-facing applications, and a proactive desire to collaborate with fellow developers, designers, and marketing managers to present a shared artistic vision.

Responsibilities:

  • Be responsible for removing roadblocks, ensuring processes are lean, efficient, and helping develop members.
  • Help refactor and maintain our core systems to prepare them to scale.
  • Develop features and improvements to the Nifty product in a secure, well-tested, and performant way that allows the platform to adapt and grow.
  • Understand our core business objectives, then ideate and implement new features that will help us achieve our exciting goals to grow our customer base.
  • Troubleshoot technical issues by leveraging your deep understanding of the systems and experience with technologies we leverage.
  • Work collaboratively with other team members to build greenfield portions of the app.
  • Help define and improve our internal standards for style, maintainability, and best practices for a high-scale web environment. Maintain and advocate for these standards through code review.
  • Provide mentorship for junior and intermediate engineers in your department to help them grow in their technical responsibilities and remove blockers.
  • Embrace our DevOps culture: you build it, you run it.
  • Work well cross-functionally and earn trust from co-workers at all levels.

Qualifications:

  • Have a strong technical background, including 5+ years of experience designing and engineering large scale systems.
  • Prefer simple solutions and designs over complex ones.
  • Enjoy working with a diverse group of people with different areas of expertise.
  • Are comfortably organized amongst chaos.
  • You are a broad thinker and have the capability to see the potential impact of decisions across the wider business.
  • Be familiar with our tech stack

  • Embrace differences and know that when we can be ourselves at work, we are happier, more motivated, and creative. We want to be able to bring our whole selves to work, have our own perspectives and know that we belong. As such, through your behaviors at work, we expect you to reflect and actively sustain a healthy engineering environment that looks like this:
    • A wide range of voices heard to the benefit of all
    • Teams that are clearly happy, engaged, and laugh together
