The Role:
We're looking for Software Engineers who are passionate about building high-quality products that solve meaningful customer problems.
As a Software Engineer at Forage, you'll work across the product development lifecycle—from shaping requirements and designing technical solutions to implementing, testing, deploying, and iterating on features. You'll collaborate closely with Product, Design, Solutions Engineering, and fellow engineers to deliver reliable, scalable systems that directly impact our customers.
We hire engineers across multiple levels, from mid-level individual contributors to senior and staff-level technical leaders. The exact level will be determined through our interview process based on experience, technical expertise, and demonstrated impact.
What We're Looking For:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
- 3+ years of professional software engineering experience.
- Experience building and shipping production software in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong understanding of software engineering fundamentals, including system design, testing, and debugging.
- Experience working with cloud infrastructure, ideally AWS.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
- Ability to work effectively across engineering, product, and business teams.
- Passion for building products that deliver exceptional customer experiences.
Preferred Technical Experience:
Experience with some or all of the following:
- Python
- Django
- TypeScript
- React
- React Native
- HTML/CSS
- REST APIs
- Distributed systems
- AWS cloud services
- CI/CD and modern development practices
Leveling Expectations:
Intermediate Engineer (L2–L3)
- Independently delivers features and projects.
- Contributes to technical design discussions.
- Collaborates effectively across teams.
Senior Engineer (L4)
- Leads medium-to-large projects.
- Drives technical decision-making within their domain.
- Mentors other engineers and improves engineering practices.
Staff Engineer (L5)
- Owns cross-functional technical initiatives.
- Influences architecture and engineering strategy.
- Raises the effectiveness of the broader engineering organization through leadership and mentorship.
Our Offer:
This role is Hybrid in New York or San Francisco, we will consider remote within North America on a case-by-case basis. We define hybrid as 2-3 days in office.
Your base salary would fall within the bands below. Please keep in mind that the equity portion of your offer is not included in these numbers and represents a significant part of your total compensation.
- Expected salary range: $125,000 – $225,000 USD base salary, plus equity and benefits.

Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries at our headquarters in San Francisco, California. Individual pay is determined by work location, job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
