Overview

We’re looking for an experienced Platform Engineer II  to come help us automate everything, enable our developer teammates, and create and support world class platforms.

As an Experienced Platform Engineer (PE II), you will be an integral member of the Platform Engineering team, helping the organization transform into a truly modern DevOps model of operation. The goal of the Technical Platform Engineering (TPE) team is to reduce friction in the delivery process and improve developer experience. Technical prowess, pragmatic strategic understanding, and ability to make compromises working with the stakeholders are the 3 pillars of this job.

PE II’s will be working closely with their leader, Architect, and Tech Lead, to ensure sound technical direction. PE II’s will also work with the Technical Product Owner in their agile PE team to reduce friction in delivering the most critical platform features needed for the Product Development Teams.

PE II’s will be expected to provide guidance on DevOps practices and tools as well as Azure
cloud resources. In addition, a SPE will mentor as well as serve as an escalation point to Platform Engineer I’s.

What you'll do

  • Contribute to the strategic direction for the Platform and the Developer Experience
  • Drive sound technical implementation decisions in alignment with the strategic direction
  • Represent platform capabilities at delivery ceremonies (for example:  Sprint Reviews, Architecture Review Board (ARB) and Operational Governance Board (OGB)).
  • Drive forensic troubleshooting and analysis of automation and platform consistency issues
  • Proactively ensure the highest levels of systems, resource, and infrastructure availability and performance optimization
  • Evangelize DevOps practices and methodologies to delivery teams
  • Provide subject matter expertise for all aspects of our technology stack
  • Foster the team’s growth through hiring, onboarding, and mentoring

What we're looking for
  • 3+ years of experience in a Platform, Software, Site Reliability, or DevOps Engineering or DevOps Advocacy role
  • Proficiency with containers and container orchestration using Kubernetes
  • Proficiency writing production code with an industry standard programming language using Agile methodologies.
  • Proficiency practicing Infrastructure as Code and Configuration as Code techniques
  • Proficiency managing multiple code bases in Git
  • Proficiency creating Continuous Integration builds and deployment automation, for example CI/CD Pipelines
  • Proficiency building Cloud Native applications in a major public cloud
  • Proficiency implementing observability, application monitoring, and log aggregation solutions
  • Proficiency working with cross functional teams to provide DevOps inspired solutions
Preferred
  • University Degree in a computing related field or equivalent experience
  • Proficiency with Azure DevOps Repos and Pipelines
  • Proficiency with provisioning resources in Azure with Terraform
  • Proficiency with dotnet and PowerShell
  • Proficiency in Azure Api Management or other API Gateway technologies
  • Proficiency in developing APIs
  • Experience in test automation and test automation frameworks
  • Microsoft Certified: Azure DevOps Engineer Expert, Azure Developer Associate, and/or Azure Administrator Associate
