About the Role
Asseta is hiring a Head of Applied AI to lead how we build and ship AI across the product. You will own the roadmap for AI features, from idea to production. You will work closely with Engineering, Product, and Customer Success to turn financial workflows into AI-driven automation.
This is a hands-on leadership role. You will write code, review models, and set technical direction. You will also hire and lead a small team as it grows.

Core Responsibilities
Design and ship AI features that automate accounting, reporting, and reconciliation tasks for family offices.
Build production AI services in Python, using FastAPI and our microservice architecture.
Design retrieval pipelines on Postgres and OpenSearch to ground model output in client financial data.
Evaluate and select models, vendors, and infrastructure for production use.
Build evaluation frameworks that measure accuracy, cost, and latency before a feature ships.
Partner with Product to turn client pain points into AI-driven solutions.
Set technical standards for prompt design, fine-tuning, and retrieval-augmented generation across the platform.
Work with Engineering to deploy and scale AI workloads on AWS.
Collaborate with frontend engineers to ship AI experiences in our React and TypeScript application.
Present AI strategy and results to the executive team and, when needed, to clients.
What You Bring
5+ years building and shipping machine learning or applied AI systems in production.
Hands-on experience with large language models, including prompt engineering, fine-tuning, and RAG architectures.
Strong Python skills and experience building services with FastAPI or a similar framework.
Experience with search and retrieval systems such as OpenSearch or Elasticsearch, including vector search.
Working knowledge of Postgres and AWS.
Track record of taking a model from prototype to a reliable production system.
Ability to explain complex technical ideas to non-technical stakeholders.
Experience leading a team or mentoring other engineers.
Preferred: fintech, accounting, or financial services background. Experience with structured financial data and numerical accuracy requirements. Comfort reading and contributing to React and TypeScript code.

Expected salary range of $150,000-$200,000 plus eligibility in employee equity plan
